Chest Ovens

In the case of chest ovens, the focus is not only on optimum thermal treatment but also on the requirements of batch handling.
In many processes, charging a furnace from the top is the most efficient solution. Chests for solvent evaporation, electrically or gas heated – many versions of chest ovens are in operation. Often rotational movements are required during tempering – speed controlled, monitored – even several shafts next to and on top of each other.

Small chest ovens with low operating temperatures are often equipped with manual lids.

Due to the counterweights, every operator can open these lids without difficulty. In the opened state the arrangement of the counterweights prevents the lid from closing by accident.

If the chest oven is designed for higher temperatures up to 650°C, the lids become too unwieldy even on small chests. For example, a pneumatic drive as shown here, is the recommended solution.

 
Even larger varnish drying chests are not a problem. The lids are moved with electric motors.... One can also see two rotary drives on the sidewall.
